Response to Ofgem’s consultation on gas disconnections framework

Response to Ofgem’s consultation on gas disconnections framework 314 KB

The way in which consumers are using the energy network is evolving, with an increasing number choosing to disconnect from their gas supply and install alternative heat sources. Ofgem consider the ability of consumers to exercise their choice to disconnect from the gas network and electrify their homes and businesses to be integral to the interests of current and future energy consumers, including their interests in the Government meeting its net zero targets. We welcome the opportunity to respond to Ofgem’s call for input on the review of the gas disconnections framework and provide our view on the effectiveness of the current disconnections framework. We also discuss potential future regulatory frameworks, regimes or mechanisms that could operate more effectively to help achieve net zero and protect consumers.
