The Smart Meter Data Dashboard

Smart meters bring a raft of data about how consumers use their energy. With this data, new offers and innovations can emerge that could benefit consumers. However, this data should be handled appropriately for consumers to trust and share it freely. Consumers need, want and demand transparency and control in these situations.

This report [ 68 kb] is a proof of concept for a smart meter data dashboard. The dashboard we have described will allow consumers to see who is accessing their data, how often and when it began. It could also allow for consumers to query access and change access.

The report also identifies ongoing challenges to realise the concept of a data dashboard.

As the government looks to review the Data Access and Privacy Framework, this report and concept should play a key role in conversations.
