DECC call for evidence on third party financing of renewable heat schemes
Consultation response extract
Financial support for renewable heating systems under the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme has been a welcome step to ensure households can access such new types of heating, especially in rural areas where many are reliant on expensive oil or solid fuel heating systems. This consultation by DECC sought views on expanding the scheme to include renewable heating systems funded using finance from third parties.
While Citizens Advice welcomes the expansion of the RHI scheme to a broader consumer base we do have concerns regarding the level of consumer protection that will be ensured and query how accessible the scheme will be for more vulnerable and fuel poor consumers.
