Use this letter template to cancel an agreement you made to buy something when you were at home (yours or someone else’s), at your workplace, in a public place or at a trade show. You can do this during the 14 day ‘cooling off’ period.
It should help the trader understand your point of view and their legal obligation to sort out the problem.
You can send the letter by post or copy the text into an email. If you’d prefer to talk to the trader on the phone or in person you could read it out to them.
Before you use this template, make sure you read our advice on changing your mind about something you've bought or cancelling a service you've arranged.

Re: The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013
On 14 January 2022 I entered into the following contract with your representative at my home:
To trim the hedge in the front garden and cut the grass every month for a year.
I have now decided that I do not wish to proceed with the contract.
Under the above Regulations, I have 14 days from receiving the cancellation notice to cancel the contract.
I am therefore giving notice that I want to exercise this right to cancel my contract with you.
Please confirm within 7 days of receiving this letter that the contract has been cancelled.
Yours faithfully,
Sam Hoolin
