We’ve changed our Witness Service referral form. If you’ve used it before, you’ll see changes, but we still ask for the same information.

Giving evidence in court as a person in need of support can be a stressful and worrying time.

If you’re a person in need of support at a criminal court in England or Wales, you can get free and independent support from the Citizens Advice Witness Service. It doesn’t matter who you’re a witness for, you can still get help.

You can also get help if you need support at court because someone you know died in an incident leading to a criminal trial.

Contact the Citizens Advice Witness Service

Whether you're a witness or contacting us on behalf of a witness please use this form to get in touch.

We’ll reply within 2 working days, usually by phone.

If talking on the phone is difficult, we can email or write instead.

This webform is secure. Please see our privacy policy stating that we’ll collect and store personal information you provide, but won’t share it without your permission.

If you have a query about a witness referral, please contact the Witness Service Referral Hub on 0300 332 1000 or by email: WSreferralhub@citizensadvice.org.uk.

People in need of support who live in London

We can’t offer support before a trial to people who live in London - this service is provided by Victim Support.

If you work for an organisation that makes referrals for people in need of support, email IVWS@victimsupport.cjsm.net to refer clients to Victim Support.

If you’re a person in need of support (or making contact on behalf of a person in need of support), email IVWS@victimsupport.org.uk to contact Victim Support, or call them on 0808 168 9291.

To check if an address is in London:

  1. Find the local council on GOV.UK - you’ll need the postcode

  2. Check if the council is listed as a London borough on the London Council's website

All people in need of support can get help from a Witness Service volunteer on the day of the trial.
