Citizens Advice reassures Future Energy customers as firm goes out of business
Citizens Advice has reassured customers of Future Energy that their energy supply will continue despite the firm going out of business, and said that a new supplier will be arranged by Ofgem.
The national charity is urging customers not to switch suppliers at this stage, as they may not get any refunds they're entitled to.
Citizens Advice Director of Energy Victoria MacGregor said:
“Future Energy customers’ gas and electricity will continue as normal - so they’ll still be able to heat and light their homes.
“The energy regulator Ofgem is finding a new supplier for Future Energycustomers. The new supplier will contact customers in due course.
“It’s important these customers sit tight and wait for Ofgem to organise the new supplier. Switching to another energy company at this stage could mean they don’t get any refunds they may be entitled to. In the meantime, customers will need to take a reading of their gas and electricity meters for their new supplier.
“We’re working closely with Ofgem to make sure people can get the help they need. Anyone unsure of their next steps can call the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 04 05 06.”
Customers can find more information on Ofgem’s website.
