About the role
Citizens Advice Dunstable are looking for a Generalist Adviser to provide high quality information, advice and support to people. As a Generalist Adviser you will provide both face to face and telephone advice and support on issues including welfare benefits and employment, and additional problems such as homelessness, referring to specialist support as required. Ideally you will have some experience of giving advice/support and working with vulnerable clients. Training can be provided on welfare benefits and other advice areas. We would also like to hear from current volunteer advisers who are looking to get into paid employment.
This is to deliver advice and support to people to improve their circumstances.
We want people who are passionate about giving an effective service to those most in need. Demonstrating that you can engage skilfully with clients who are vulnerable and distressed, having proven skills in working in a busy environment.
You will be a highly motivated and strong team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. Having the ability to understand complex information; have good numeracy skills, and have effective oral and written communication skills for the purposes of negotiation and reporting.
Providing signposting, triage, specific support and specialist advice, or referring to others within the service as required.

• Prevent an individual from needing food bank support on an ongoing basis.
