About the role
The Family Advice Caseworker role is funded for 4 years by the National Lottery Community Fund under the Reaching Communities/Partnerships programme, to deliver high quality advice and support to outreach clients with a family, (children up to the age of 19, or 25 if have additional needs), to deal with their financial and other social welfare issues.
We are looking for an experienced adviser with good communication and IT skills to support clients to improve their financial health and wellbeing. We require someone with a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service.
The primary purpose of the project is to help clients to address and resolve the issues which are affecting the quality of life for themselves and their family by providing one to one advice appointments. Clients will often be vulnerable and have complex enquiries. You will deliver advice and casework on a wide range of issues such as benefits, debt, housing, employment, family and immigration. This will include interviewing and assisting clients with in- depth benefits checks, applications and form completion, (such as disability benefit forms, SEN forms), money management; and negotiating with third parties.
Your role will also include developing and expanding our Family Service across the area, so you must be able to work confidently and collaboratively with partner agencies and be prepared to move around different venues across the north of Cheshire East.
