About the role
Citizens Advice Cheshire North are seeking a trained or trainee money adviser to assist in the provision of debt advice to clients under a Money Advice and Pension Service contract.
As a MaPS Debt Caseworker, you will be experienced, or willing to train, in working with debt clients, negotiating with creditors on their behalf on all matters including council tax arrears, rent/mortgage arrears, electricity/gas debt, credit cards, insolvency, bailiffs etc. You will be familiar with options available for clients to maximise their income.
Key skills
● Able to commit to and work within the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service
● Enthusiastic and dynamic team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and also be able to work independently
● Some experience of debt advice work
● Able to work from a variety of settings including your own home as required
● Experience with working with clients in an advice setting
● Excellent time management, experience of project working in a target led environment
● Access to a vehicle and be willing to travel for client or team meetings
● Good technical skills - numerate, experience of using different IT systems and understand the importance of case recording.
If the successful applicant is not a qualified Money Advice worker, they will be expected to carry out extensive training on top of the working hours to qualify.
